Instructions
Make a presentation on your market research.
- Select a company you wish to work with:
- either to add something they don't have (Uniqlo for pets),
- or rework an app you find lacking (KTM 2.0)
- Go through the app of the company, start collecting screenshots of all their pages
- Identify 3 things the app does well, and 3 things you think can be improved
- In parallel, develop the initial problem statement for your project.
- It should be a short intro on what you're working, from the user point of view (who), and showing a problem that affects them (what).
- Put some context (when, where, how) and why does it matter to them (why).
- Remember the project statement is temporary, it defines your project now, but will change as you get more data on your market and users.
- 3 direct competitors apps, what they are, and at least 2 things they do better than your company app (from a feature/design point of view).
- 1 (or more) left field app, an app that comes from a different field, that does or has something interesting you would like to bring in your project.
Content of the slides are as follow:
- Problem Statement (who has what problem, when and where, and why it matters)
- Company intro:
- App overview (main features & pages)
- PROS: 3 great points (from market/feature/design point of view)
- CONS: 3 points to improve (same)
- User Reviews (positive & negative reviews, beyond technical issues)
- Usability (from the consistency, simplicity, visibility, feedback and error prevention points of view)
- 3 competitors (with PRO, CONS, and 2 features they do better than the company)
- Left field, an app that is not in the same field, not a competitor, but has great features to grab
- Gut feeling (what I feel I can do for this project, at this point what I think it will be about)
- Conclusion (1 slide that summarize your whole presentation, TL:DR)
