Experiences:
I have done some collages school's art classes in the past. However, this is the first time I am using Photoshop, though I have some experience in editing pictures from free apps or websites, such as removing the background or adjusting the colour of the image. At first, it was difficult for me to get the hang of using Photoshop, but after learning the necessities and main functions, I find that I like using Photoshop. It is pretty fun to learn new ways to edit an image in however ways I want. For this project, I particularly like doing the digital imaging exercise of recolouring black and white photos, which allowed me the freedom to choose any colour, and I like colouring anything.
Observation:
I have seen that with some collages, I might struggle with trying to find a good composition without the elements I want, since I have to use what is given or use the limited magazines that I can find. I did try using different shapes and a colour contrast to create a sense of harmony and unity among the design. I could follow the tutorials on the digital imaging exercises, as I find that I could follow instructions the best when I am given step by step on slides. I could easily go back to each step and practice with it, as compared to a video, where it is hard to understand the explanation, or I would waste my time trying to find the exact step I need help with.
Findings:
I have learned the basics of Photoshop - how to remove a background in several ways, how to adjust images' colour to fit the whole picture, how to photoshop someone's image into a picture naturally, how to use mask, and how to recolour black and white images. I also put to practice the skills I have learned from design principles, as it is also important in digital imaging. I will continue to practice using Photoshop and find new ways I could do things, to increase my skills and learn more.
