Final Reflection
What have I learnt in this module?
I have learnt about several design principles and how to use them effectively, while being able to visually analyse designs, breakdown the elements used and explain on why they are used with ease. I also have learnt how to plan my design using design principles that help explain my message or story to converse well to the viewers who sees my design.
What did I enjoy the most?
I enjoyed the visual analysis part on the design (task 2), as I love to observe and analyse certain elements and decisions used in an artwork, which gives me a deeper understanding and appreciation of the message or story shown. I grew to love the story more about Eurydice and Orpheus as I later tried to interpret their story in my own understanding.
What did I not enjoy the most?
The starting of task 3 (development of the design), as I didn't know how to start without the necessary skills to draw and create. I was a bit lost and unmotivated to start developing. However, after I pushed myself to learn and just start somewhere, it became easier to continue to the end. Even though it is not the best, this is a start on where I can improve my design and drawing skills.
What have I learnt about myself through this module?
I learnt that I need to practice on managing my time more, as doing certain things, especially for the first time, takes a lot of time and practice. On the bright side, I learned that I have learnt design principles in different ways, and that I have always used it in trying to design a video, poster or a presentation. This module has helped me solidify those principles, by being able to explain more and understand in depth. On another note, I also learnt that I can actually do something once I push myself; even though it's hard at first, I can always get through, and I can do something that I can be proud of.
What has changed and what has not in my learning journey?
I have learned more about design principles and how to use them, while also learning how to draw digitally. A new change is also using this E-blog as a portfolio to keep my work progress, helping me reflect and observe my own growth. On the other hand, the visual analysis part has not changed for me, as I have done this in my previous year in AUSMAT (Australian Matriculation) in my English class, where we have to analysis and explain movies and posters.
What are my aspirations?
I hope to achieve better skills in drawing and effectively using design principles, where I can create better designs in the future. I also hope I have more opportunities to use what I have studied in this module and apply to other things and tasks, so that I can have a better grip on how to use design principles.
